Preston Gott (b. 23 Nov 1825 Shelby Co KY) died at his farm home near Browns Valley Saturday morning. In 1829, his grandfather, Robert Gott came here from Ky. and settled on this farm. Robert Gott, son of the pioneer and father of the deceased also lived on this farm. For three generations the farm has been the property of the Gott Family; now Preston Gott, Jr. of the 4th generation resides here. The passing of Preston Gott, Sr., marks the end of the 3rd generation. Grandfather Gott was a soldier of the Revolutionary War and is one of the few veterans of the war who lies buried in this County. The wife of Preston Gott, Sr., died many years ago. Surviving are four sons: James R. Gott, Peoria, Ill; John Gott, Ill; Thomas Gott, Wingate and Preston Jr., near Russellville. Dr. WT Gott of this city is a nephew.
